XT® polymer compound has a long history in the food packaging industry. Its environmental stress craze resistant characteristics have lead it into a wide variety of specialty food applications typically found in the refrigerated section of the supermarket. They include refrigerated salads such as cole slaw, macaroni salad and potato salad. XT® polymer compound is used in yogurt cups and sour cream cups.
The product exhibits good cold temperature impact properties which allows it to be used successfully in frozen desert packaging applications. Since the product can be run on the same tooling used for styenic packages, it can help packaging houses pursue specialty food packaging applications on the same tooling that is used for commodity packaging applications. The product meets the FDA requirements for food contact for all use conditions up to and including hot filled or pasteurized above 150°F (e.g. condition 21 CFR 176.170) for all food types except those containing more than 8 percent alcohol.
